The Rental Housing Commission announced today that the 2013 rent control CPI will be 2.2 percent.
The Rental Housing Commission announced today that the 2013 rent control CPI will be 2.2 percent, effective May 1, 2013, through April 30, 2014. See below attachment for DHCD/Rental Housing Commission notice.
This means that 2.2 percent is the maximum standard rent increase for rent controlled units occupied by elderly tenants and tenants with disabilities, and 4.2 percent (CPI + 2%) is the maximum standard rent increase for all other rent controlled units. It should be noted that the Social Security Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) for calendar year 2013 is 1.7 percent. For a list of rent control CPI figures historically, please see below attachment.
