OTA to Host Its First Annual Tenant Summit

The Office of the Tenant Advocate will be holding its 1st Annual Tenant Summit at Gallaudet University on September 27, 2008 in the Kellogg Conference Center.

(Washington, DC) - The Office of the Tenant Advocate will hold its 1st Annual Tenant/Tenant Association Summit on the campus of Gallaudet University on Saturday, September 27, 2008 in the Kellogg Conference Center located at 800 Florida Avenue, NE, Washington, DC 20002. The registration will begin at 8 am and the event will conclude at 4 pm. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /?>

Admission is free! There will be refreshments in the morning with free food provided at lunch. The summit speaking events will have multi-lingual translation simul-cast available. There will be the opportunity to sign-up for utility discount programs, sponsored exhibits, free giveaways and much more.

The <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /?>KelloggConferenceCenter will provide free shuttle bus service from Union Station and the  New York Avenue, NE. Metro Station. Here is the schedule.

Free Kellogg Conference Center parking passes are available to those who register online.

The summit will bring together tenants, tenant associations, community leaders, city officials and non-profit organizations who will share the knowledge, resources and information that Washington, DC residents need to meet the demanding issues that challenge them in today’s rental housing market.

This is an exciting opportunity to learn the facts about your rights and issues at the summit‘s multi-lingual ‘Boot Camp”; a series of seminars by advocacy professionals on important issues such as:

  • Rent Control
  • Foreclosure
  • Buying Your Building
  • Condo Conversion
  • Landlord and Tenant Court and much more

The Office of Tenant Advocate is one of the few if not the only independent government agency in the United States that is solely dedicated to protecting the rights of the tenant in rental properties in the District of Columbia. We are aggressively moving forward with a unique event that is geared towards providing tenants and tenant’s associations with the support they most desperately need to maintain their day to day quality of life needs.

Please join us for this interactive, educational full-day event. Come and meet your DC Office of Tenant Advocate staff and learn about the vital issues that affect you, your family or your tenant association.
